My boyfriend, Dane and I enjoy giving each other little gifts every once in a while, especially on our month markers in our relationship (coming up on 15 official months!). Towards the beginning of our relationship, Dane was a bit timid, trying to figure the whole girlfriend thing out, as I am his first. He knew how much of a girly girl I am and how I adore stuffed animals, so for about our third "montheversary" he decided to make me a Build-a-Bear. He is so thoughtful that way. Although in doing so, he got really proud of himself and thought he was on a roll and such and decided that while he was there he would dress up the pink Hello Kitty in some sort of dress. He knew that being a girly girl, I always wear lacy dresses, so he just thought he would prove how much he paid attention to the things I am interested in and present it in something so irresistibly cute. He is just such a good guy. So the day came where we were to exchange our gifts. Previously, I had given him a comic style booklet of all the things we had done together so far with a Tropical Smoothie gift card, but that has a story of its own behind it! That same month, he, from the very beginning trying to accentuate his excellent gift giving skills, bought me a web cam since I had displayed an interest in making YouTube videos; along with a handmade heart shaped cut out box of chocolate kisses. So sweet. The next month I gave him a variety of different candies with a poem using each type of candy in it to describe him. (for example: nerds, because he is a nerd; smarties, because he is smart; a snickers, because he makes me laugh; etc.) That month he gave me a homemade comic book of our adventures similar to the one I had made, showing off that he remembers all of the memories we had shared as well. The third month comes though...and, three months is a fairly long time for a high school relationship, but I was still trying to stay on the less personal side of things while we were still getting to know each other; so this month I was going to give him a cute little card with two young children kissing on the front and a nice shirt from a store he likes since he was about to start school. We exchanged gifts and I am just glowing at the sight of a Build-a-Bear box. First, I opened a Barnes and Nobles gift card-he knew how much of a book fanatic I am. Inside the bulky white box was the pink Hello Kitty wearing that lacy dress I was telling you about. It's true that I am a fan of white lacy things, but this stuffed animal was in a white lacy dress, with a white lacy veil, holding a bouquet of flowers...a very familiar stereotypical bridal outfit. His mom was there that day as well and she was quite stunned to say the least. I was sure that he had simply made a mistake and just giggled quietly. Dane grew more and more nervous the quieter his mother and I became. He is quite the nervous person as it is. He hadn't the faintest idea that my Hello Kitty represented a bride, implying a wedding. When his mom finally brought herself to tell him this...I have never seen him so red. Since then, our gifts have gradually become more personal as our relationship has grown stronger and we get closer and learn more about each other. That Hello Kitty though, may have been an ice breaker, despite how embarrassing and slightly uncomfortable it most definitely was at the time. I think his hesitation and nervousness has died away since then, considering now we are wearing promise rings. <3 xoxox <3 oxoxo <3 xoxox <3 oxoxo <3

Adorable! You're lucky to have someone who puts such thought into gifts and making you smile (and someone who inspires the same creativity and thoughtfulness in you). Cute story. And I do love Hello Kitty myself...
